Our Mission
In accordance with the mission statement of the Department of Recreational Sports, the Camp Recky program's mission is to foster social and physical childhood development, promote active lifestyles, and provide educational leadership opportunities to the Ohio State community.
Forms and Information
Parents who enroll their child in Camp Recky should review all of the documents located at the side of this page. Campers are required to have a Camper Health Form on file with the camp program. This form must be updated annually specifically for the summer camp season.
Registration
There are three ways to register: online, in person and by mail.
Helpful Hint: Save all of your receipts from your Camp Recky enrollment for flexible spending account (fsa) and federal tax purposes.
Camp Readiness
While some camps are open to children as young as kindergarten age, some children are not yet ready for camp. Please make sure your camper is ready for camp by asking yourself the following:
- Can my child attend to his or her own personal needs such as changing clothes, toileting and eating? Camp staff cannot assist children with these personal needs.
- Will my child generally follow simple directions and rules in a structured setting? Most rules are set for the safety of all campers, and children must generally be able to follow these rules in order to stay safe.
-
Does my child still need a nap every day? We are not able to provide naptime for children who need it. The half-day camp option is best for campers who still need a nap.
Refund Policy
Cancellations and refund requests must be made in writing to the program director at least two (2) weeks prior to the camp session paid for to receive a refund, less the $30.00 non-refundable deposit per child per session. E-mail requests to the director are acceptable. After that deadline up to one (1) week prior to the camp session paid for, a program credit, less the $30.00 non-refundable deposit per child per session, will be granted for another Community Programs activity. This credit will be valid for one year from the date on the letter received. Any cancellation received less than one (1) week prior to the start of the camp session will generally not be eligible for any refund. Make up sessions will not be offered for any missed camp programs. All documentation required for a refund must be submitted by August 15, 2010. No refunds for Camp Recky 2010 will be processed after this date.
Special Accomodations
If your child needs an accommodation due to a disability, please view the attached accommodation request form and return it to the ARS office (ars@osu.edu). Requests must be received at least two weeks prior to the start of an enrolled camp.
