Competitive Sports
The Department of Recreational Sports is proud to offer an extensive list of Intramural and Club sports within its Competitive Sports program. Select Intramurals or Sport Clubs from the listing and you will find further information regarding registration, sports offered, contacts, special events, and more.
What's the difference between Intramurals and Sport Clubs?
Sport Clubs provide opportunities for students, faculty, and staff with similar interests to participate in various sport and recreational activities. Sport Clubs bridge the gap between intramural and intercollegiate athletics by providing competition at specialized levels, participation in tournaments and opportunities to practice. Although some clubs remain solely recreational, most are highly competitive.
Club privileges include the use of the Ohio State name, a small budget allotted by the Council of Student Activities and the Department of Recreational Sports, and athletic facilities when available. Most clubs supplement their budget through membership fees and fund raising and have a try-out process.
We offer Intramural sports only once per year so that we can provide the best variety of sports that cater to all populations and their interests. Any paid member of Recreational Sports (students, faculty, staff, adults), as well as spouses, sponsored adults, or affiliates who have a current and valid membership can participate in Intramurals.
No team? No problem!
You are able to register as an individual and be placed on Intramural teams with others to form whole teams in the following sports: Flag Football, Indoor Volleyball, Basketball, Indoor Soccer, Softball, and Soccer.
Register in the same fashion as a person who is registering for a team, just make sure to let the Intramural staff person who is helping you know that you do not have a full team.
